You Can Help by Volunteering
There are a number of organizations that work to promote suicide prevention and mental health services that may need volunteers. You can contact the groups listed below, or contact Merily Keller, hodgekeller@yahoo.com at the Texas Suicide Prevention Council, if you are interested in establishing a suicide prevention coalition in your community or on your campus.

24-hour crisis line and referral service for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender communities. Also an entry point to Same-Sex Domestic Violence/Abuse (shelter), Hate Crimes, Sexual Assault assistance, including hospital and police accompaniment. Volunteers answer the phones in the office. Opportunities for on-call crisis volunteers for overnights and weekends, when crisis calls may be forwarded to your home or cell phone. Training is provided twice a year.
